Sahadev holds a Ph.D. in Neurosciences from Loyola University Chicago, an MPH from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an M.B.B.S. from Bangalore University. When not doing science, Sahadev practices meditation and enjoys long-distance running.
Ahina is Junior Research Fellow working on understanding how modulating shape of nanoparticles effect their behaviour in single cell membrane systems. She has completed her M.Sc. in chemistry from St. Albert’s college (autonomous), Ernakulam and qualified GATE 2020. She was previously a research fellow at CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, and strongly believes that research is not just a career or a degree, but a societal responsibility! Other than research, she is interested in reading books and writing articles.
Merlin is Junior Research Fellow and her work involves figuring out how neural innervation plays a role in developing hierarchical tissue systems for purposes of tissue regeneration. She completed her MTech in Biotechnology from D.Y.Patil Deemed to be University, Mumbai, and has been a research student at ACTREC, Mumbai. She has also worked at ICMR-NIRRH as Project Assistant on clinical research projects, and has experience in stem cell biology as a part of her Project Assistant position at IISER Thiruvananthapuram. Apart from her passion for research, she loves to play the violin, sing, dance, read novels, and watch movies.
Pushpa is a part-time PhD scholar. Her research work focuses on developing advanced preservation techniques for osteochondral allografts. She has dedicated her career to tissue bank development and research, contributing to innovations in graft preservation and transplantation. She completed her Master’s in Biotechnology and has since been actively involved in tissue banking. Her work aims to enhance the quality and longevity of allografts, ensuring better clinical outcomes for patients. Beyond her passion for research, she enjoys travelling, cooking.
Shreeraksha is a postgraduate student in Molecular and Cellular Biology, currently developing a screening model for local anesthetics using C. elegans, with a focus on the role of pH in this model. She holds a Bachelors degree in BZC from Canara College, Mangalore & Masters degree in Medical Pharmacology from KMC, Manipal. Her research experience includes a publication on the effect of Piper betel leaf extract in Alzheimer's disease (Upadhyaya et al., 2019) & a chapter on measuring aggressive behavior in Drosophila in an e-book for IISc ( Yadav et al, 2021). She has also completed an internship at Ecron Acunova Bangalore (NAVITAS LIFE SCIENCES), CRO. In her free time she enjoys drawing, dancing, writing, & exploring ancient Indian literature and texts.
Abhishek is a postgraduate student in MS Ramaiah University of Applied science in Molecular and Cellular Biology currently working on developing a 2-D clinostat for investigating the effects of simulated microgravity on plant root growth and C.elegans. He is always eager to learn and take on new challenges. Beyond the lab, he finds joy in reading mangas, watching anime, and exploring historical monuments.
Madhav is a final-year M.Sc. Biotechnology student at Shankarappa LAB, holding a B.Sc. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, and Genetics from Dayananda Sagar University. With a keen interest in neurogenomics and novel therapeutics for neurodegenerative disorders, he recently completed a bioinformatics project titled "Comparative Analysis Of HSPG And Memory-Associated Gene Interactions In Humans And C. elegans: Implications For Neurodegenerative Disease Mechanisms." Passionate about mentoring and collaborative innovation, he aspires to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience. Outside the lab, his hands-on approach extends to working on automobiles, combat sports, and troubleshooting electronics.
Mahek is an undergraduate student at M S Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology. She is currently involved in a research project exploring the effects of varying temperatures on C. elegans as a model organism. Mahek's academic interests lie in the fields of neuroscience and genetics, with a particular focus on understanding the genetic fundamentals of disease. Beyond her academic pursuits, she enjoys film, travel, and exploring diverse culinary experiences.
Eeshaan is an undergraduate student of Biotechnology at MS Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, currently working on a research project that investigates the effects of UVB radiation using C. elegans as a model organism. Previously, he completed an internship at High Voltage Engineering, IISc, investigating the effects of high-voltage cold plasma on seed germination and crop yield in agriculture. His research interests focus on understanding disease progression, gametogenesis and cell signalling pathways. Other than research, he loves to cook, go horse riding and sing Carnatic music.
Kinnor is a Biotechnology undergraduate at MS Ramaiah University of Applied Science, currently engaged in a research project exploring the effects of temperature fluctuations on C. elegans. Passionate about the intersection of neuroscience and oncology, he aspires to contribute to advancements in medicine through research. Outside of academics, he enjoys playing cricket , watching football and travelling.
Abhishek, an undergraduate 3rd year Biotech student is passionately investigating the toxic effects of nanoplastics on C. elegans to assess it's impacts on lifespan, reproduction, oxidative stress, and neurological function in this model organism. His research, guided by Dr.Sahadev seeks to unravel the ecological and biomedical risks of nanoplastic pollution while contributing to global sustainability efforts.Beyond academics, he actively engages in science communication and welcomes connections with researchers and students to foster dialogue and action toward a healthier planet. Connect to explore his work or collaborate on tackling environmental challenges.
