Dr. Sahadev is a neuroscientist by training, specializing in neurobiology, neurophysiology, and drug delivery research, currently working as a Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at RUAS. Before joining Ramaiah, Sahadev worked as an assistant and associate professor in the Center for Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine at Amrita University in Kochi, for more than 10 years. He is a 2013 DBT Ramalingaswamy fellow, and completed his postdoctoral training in the laboratories of Professors Robert Langer at MIT, and Daniel Kohane at Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Sahadev holds a Ph.D. in Neurosciences from Loyola University Chicago, an MPH from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an M.B.B.S. from Bangalore University. When not doing science, Sahadev practices meditation and enjoys long-distance running.
Ahina is Junior Research Fellow working on understanding how modulating shape of nanoparticles effect their behaviour in single cell membrane systems. She has completed her M.Sc. in chemistry from St. Albert’s college (autonomous), Ernakulam and qualified GATE 2020. She was previously a research fellow at CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, and strongly believes that research is not just a career or a degree, but a societal responsibility! Other than research, she is interested in reading books and writing articles.
Merlin is Junior Research Fellow and her work involves figuring out how neural innervation plays a role in developing hierarchical tissue systems for purposes of tissue regeneration. She completed her MTech in Biotechnology from D.Y.Patil Deemed to be University, Mumbai, and has been a research student at ACTREC, Mumbai. She has also worked at ICMR-NIRRH as Project Assistant on clinical research projects, and has experience in stem cell biology as a part of her Project Assistant position at IISER Thiruvananthapuram. Apart from her passion for research, she loves to play the violin, sing, dance, read novels, and watch movies.
Raj is a PhD scholar in Biotechnology at Shankarappa Lab, RUAS, Bengaluru. Supported by DRDO funding, his research integrates neuroscience, material science, and pharmaceutics to design nanowood-based thermogenic transdermal patches that mitigate cold weather–induced sensory deficits. His aim is to establish preclinical evidence that paves the way for clinical translation and practical solutions for soldiers in extreme environments. Beyond the lab, Raj enjoys singing, playing almost every sport, and exploring new knowledge across diverse fields, with a natural inclination to connect ideas and uncover how the world works in subtle, meaningful ways.
Sonu is a Master's student at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, where her research focuses on understanding the wound healing process under microgravity. She is also deeply interested in exploring the role of neuroplasticity in cognitive development. Sonu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science from JSS College, Mysore. Beyond academics, she enjoys watching movies, playing video games, and embarking on adventurous travels.
Sanjay is a Master's student at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, where his research focuses on understanding the wound healing process under microgravity. Sanjay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science from JSS AHER, Mysore. Beyond academics, he enjoys playing badminton, volleyball, trekking, travelling and going on bike rides.
Sonal is a Master's student at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, where her research focuses on understanding the wound healing process under microgravity. She is also interested in exploring the connections between Type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and aging. She completed her B.Tech in Biotechnology from SRMIST, Chennai. Beyond academics, she enjoys reading novels, painting, and exploring new places.
Neha is a Master's student at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, where her research focuses on understanding how microbiota could affect pain perception. She is also deeply interested in exploring the epigenetics of neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders. Neha holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Panskura Banamali College, West Bengal. Beyond academics, she enjoys dancing, traveling, bike rides and hitting the gym.
Adith is currently pursuing his Master's in Biotechnology in the Ramaiah institute of Applied Sciences. His research focuses on the toxicity of different nanoparticles. He makes use of C. elegans as a model organism to get a further understanding of his topic. He is also interested in understanding more about axonal drug delivery. Adith holds an undergraduate degree in biotechnology, genetics and biochemistry from Dayananda Sagar University. Apart from this he also enjoys playing the guitar and loves watching movies.
Ayesha is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Biotechnology, with a research focus on nanoparticle toxicity assessment using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism. Her work explores the biological impacts of nanoparticles such as copper oxide, zinc oxide, and silver nanoparticles on growth, reproduction and locomotion in C. elegans. Through this study, she aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of nanomaterial safety, environmental implications, and translational relevance to human health. Ayesha holds a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology & Chemistry from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. Beyond her research, Ayesha is passionate about painting, reading, baking, and travelling.
Sahana is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Biotechnology, with a research focus on nanoparticle toxicity assessment using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism. Her work explores the biological impacts of copper oxide, zinc oxide, and silver nanoparticles on growth, reproduction and locomotion in C. elegans. Through this study, she aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of nanomaterial safety and it's toxicity, environmental implications, and translational relevance to human health. Sahana holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry , Genetics and Biotechnology from Jain University school of sciences, Bangalore. Beyond her research, Sahana is passionate about Sketching, singing, playing Chess, reading, and travelling.
Mahek is an undergraduate student at M S Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology. She is currently involved in a research project exploring the effects of varying temperatures on C. elegans as a model organism. Mahek's academic interests lie in the fields of neuroscience and genetics, with a particular focus on understanding the genetic fundamentals of disease. Beyond her academic pursuits, she enjoys film, travel, and exploring diverse culinary experiences.
Eeshaan is a 4th Year B.Sc. Biotechnology student at M S Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences. He is strongly driven by his passion for developmental biology, pathophysiology and cell signaling pathways. His past research includes an internship at IISc, where he investigated the effects of high-voltage cold plasma on seed germination and crop yield, combining biochemical assays with plant developmental studies. Beyond the lab, he enjoys horse riding, knitting, and practicing Carnatic music.
Praveena is an undergraduate student at M S Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology. Currently she is working with a C. elegans diabetic model, studying how artificial sweeteners influence diabetes and metabolic health. She is passionate about therapeutics and immunology, with a special fascination for how the immune system shapes cancer therapies and the design of smarter treatments to overcome resistance. Beyond the lab, she enjoys experimenting in the kitchen and immersing herself in music.
Kashvi is a 2nd year B.Sc. Biotechnology student. She is currently working on evaluating the anti-diabetic potential of Trigonella foenum-graecum (fenugreek) seed extract using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism. Her research focuses on understanding how the extract regulates hyperglycemia through the insulin-like signaling pathway and exploring its biochemical and physiological effects.
Gayathri is a 2nd Year B.Sc. Biotechnology student, currently working on evaluating the anti-glycation potential of Azadirachta indica (neem) leaf extract using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism. Her research focuses on understanding how the extract inhibits the formation of Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs) and exploring its protective effects on lifespan and healthspan through pathways like the insulin signaling and glyoxalase system.
Krithika is a research intern exploring on Prevention of hyperglycemia-induced oxidative stress via mitochondrial ROS production in C. elegans by using Pomegranate Peel Extract. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology at RUAS, where her curiosity draws her to genetics and the mysteries of rare genetic diseases. Inspired by the idea of turning science into real world solutions, she hopes to contribute to healthcare through curiosity, innovation, and thoughtful research.
